ABOUT OUR LASER HAIR REMOVAL

We use a high powered medical grade laser imported from Europe. This premium diode laser system, called Elysion-Pro, uses light energy to target the pigment (melanin) in hairs which are in their growth phase. Any skin color can be treated as long as the hair has melanin to absorb the energy. Thus white, grey or red hair cannot be treated with laser hair removal. The high power of this laser ensures that hairs are destroyed and not merely 'stunned' as many weaker lasers will do. The patented cooling system allows painless treatment while remaining safe and effective. With great technology, the other factor needed is a good understanding of both client and machine. Here you can be rest assured that you under the supervision of a medical practitioner where your safety is of utmost importance.
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW...
SAFETY
The Elysion-pro is a diode laser developed by Cocoon Medical and has CE medical safety registration and approval (in accordance with European Union Medical Device Directive). Our laser device is also registered at the South African Department of Health. There is NO evidence that laser hair removal technology causes cancer or leads to infertility.
PAINLESS
Using crystal freeze cooling technology to keep you comfortable while maintaining effective treatment. You may feel a prickling or heat sensation, but no pain. There is no recovery time after the treatment and you can return to daily activities straight after the session.
EFFECTIVE
Laser energy destroys hair follicles in their growth phase. At any given time, about 20% of the hair is in this stage, which the treatment should destroy. You will start seeing patchy hair reduction about 2-4 weeks after the first treatment. With Elysion-pro most people will be satisfied with the level of hair reduction after an average of 6 sessions (many other lasers recommend up to 12 sessions, which is extremely unlikely with Elysion-pro). Finer hair (like on the face) may need an additional 1 or 2 sessions. Ingrowns may also improve with laser hair removal. Dormant hair follicles may be activated in different stages of life (especially due to hormonal changes), so yearly maintenance may be needed for those patches of hair.
WHO IS SUITABLE?
Light and dark skin types can all be treated. However, the hair needs pigment to attract the heat energy. Thus grey/white/red hair is not suitable. Pregnant and lactating moms cannot be treated as hormone changes will drastically affect the effectiveness. Laser hair removal can be done from the age of 18 years and older. Should a younger teenager have excessive hair and associated self-esteem concerns, this can be discussed with us. We cannot laser over tattoos/permanent make-up (approx 2cm border is needed). Please disclose any medical conditions and treatment as they may require special precautions.
PREPARATION
You will need to stop hair removal (waxing/tweezing/threading/plucking) 3-4 weeks before laser treatment, shaving is permitted. You must shave the area 24 hours before treatment. Limit sun exposure 3-4 weeks before and after laser (no self-tanning/sunbeds). Certain medications (including topical creams) may need to be stopped for a period before and after treatment.
